Wastewater in oil refinery, overview.

Wastewater in oil refinery. It represents an environmental challenge.
For example, a simple-distillation refining scheme will include the waters produced in: the desalting of crude oil (if required), the main fractionator, auxiliary activities, rainfall, waste, and / or asphalt unit, among others. However, if you have medium conversion, you will find those of: polymerization and alkylation processes, among others.
Additionally, those produced in: solvent fractionation, drying and softening of products, finishing of lubricating oils, mixing of products, etc. On the other hand, if deep conversion is included, those of: catalytic cracking, and / or delayed coking are presented. Also, we must think that at the time of collection contamination by mixture should be avoided, to minimize costs.
New facilities are characterized by the fact that wastewater systems must have a production focus. Old refineries present a treatment approach, which generates a greater investment.
In general, we want to reduce the volume and reduce the impact, which generates changes in production processes and treatments. The use of more sustainable technologies in both cases, keeping crude oil production profitable.
The challenge for management is to keep the monetary value of the project anchored, and to include the social-environmental value of the waste streams.

Our approach

From Consultora Caribe we propose to include the environmental variable as a transversal part in the projects, to guarantee the fulfillment of the objectives.
